There are four special economic zones for manufacturing in Laos, and the PJSEZ is located in Pakse, the central city in the south. Our company has invested with two local companies and four local government agencies, and is responsible for the development, operation, and management of this industrial park for Japanese companies. Some talented students who have studied at a nearby vocational training school are employed here, and the local people are happy that they have found a place to work. The government is eager to develop the country, but there are not many manufacturing industries. Therefore, they have high expectations of us. They are also eager to learn Japanese technology, management, and manners. I have worked in various countries in Asia, and the people of Laos are more simple and honest than those in other countries. There are many young people, and I treat them as if I were a parent. Vientiane is nice, but Pakse is a tourist destination and easy to live in.
